Motor problems can be mechanical, electrical, thermal, or magnetic:
- Permanent Magnets – can lose strength over time due to excessive heat or external magnetic forces; placing a metal object next to the magnets will help determine whether they have reduced magnetic attraction.
- Electromagnetic – losses can be checked using a meter to check for opens and shorts.
